Belated Halloween Update

I had so much fun making the costumes for Halloween this year. We convinced hazel she was a jelly princess and she got really excited about it. Brandon got to join us for our church trunk or treat and then he went off to Asia for work for a week and a half. It felt silly to sit around so we spent Halloween in seattle with family. All the kids were so cute and we had some great sisters and mom nights. Hazel and Desi had a blast with their cousins and i had a great time spoiling them as much as I could in the short time we were there. There is also a picture thrown in there from a fantastic date night Brandon and I had at fright fest at six flags. It was amazing I felt like I was 16 again.

Happy Christmas!!

We love Christmas at the Davey house and we have already been celebrating for a few weeks. This morning it was Santa Pancakes. Thank you to Lindsey for the suggestion via pinterest!

Desi's new face

He started doing this new grumpy/disgusted face last week. It cracks me up while making me aware that the terrible twos will attack even my sweet, happy, giggly boy.

Six flags day and the space center

I love having season passes and that we got such a great deal on them. We went for a few hours Saturday morning and had a blast and within seconds of getting in the car both kids passed out. Went ended up meeting up with the Griffin family at the space center (I watched all 6 kids while Sarah, Jared, and Brandon went to the temple 10 minutes away). It was...an adventure. Then we had dinner at this fun little Ethiopian restaurant a few miles away. It was a bit of a different experience with kids but still really delicious.

Summer time!!

Apparently my goal of daily blog posts totally dropped off when "summer" started and I went to Utah to be there when Amelia and Lawrence graduated from BYU. From now on I am going to simplify and do periodic updates on what is going on.

I love summer days at the park. We go and burn off some energy and have a picnic. Last week we dog sat for some friends and would take the dogs for a walk. Desi Q was in heaven and walked around all day pointing and going "doggy!" "woof, woof!". He also says hot, mommy, daddy, sis, ball, and a few others that are escaping me.

Day 108: mall trip

Today my good friend Charlotte and I headed to the mall to visit a friend at work. She has two little girls that hazel has a blast with and desi just hung out in the chariot. We wandered the Disney store and I grabbed some new blush. I let hazel set the pace for the most part and it was a lot of fun. On my way home I dropped my Alexis and Ellie's house so Desi could have a playdate too and he got to see his little girlfriend (and so I could visit a bit). I show up and Alexis not only feeds me, but has baked me a delicious lemon pie!! She says it is a belated move in/birthday present, but she really outdid herself! What an angel! I feel so lucky to have such great friends so quickly after moving here.

Day 106: desi des

I was attempting to entertain des while I was doing laundry and getting a few things ready for my trip, and I grabbed Brandon's headlamp and turned it on the low red setting and it kept des busy forever! I can just see him and Brandon having a blast on father son campouts!

Day 107: hazel my techno wizard

Since hazel was tiny she could maneuver in and out of my phone like it was nothing. I started putting in lock on and he just hacked the lock and kept going through. The other day I found this picture on my phone. She must have opened up sketch book pro, made me a little pic, saved it, then put the phone back before I even realized she had it. Haha.

Day 105: Howarth Park

When we first moved to this area and were staying with or Davey cousins, we kept driving past this beautiful park. We even saw a train for the kids to ride on, but had no idea how amazing the park really is. There are like 4 playgrounds, boats for rent, two lakes, long trails for hikes or bike rides, a merry go round, bounce houses, large picnic areas, etc. It's amazing!! We'll be going back often and bringing friends!

Hazel made us "lunch" and a variety of mud pies. Yum!

Day 104: library story time

Since we don't have hazel in preschool quite yet, I try to take her to lots of play dates and activities in the community. At library story time they read a few books, sing a few songs and dance. Hazel makes friends instantly and had so much fun.

When we got home our neighbor was giving away this desk. I am thinking about cutting it down shorter and painting it mustard yellow for a craft table in the kids room.

Day 103: six flags with the McFadden fam

I was feeling extra adventurous ad wanted to hurry and use the rest of our buddy passes that expire this week, so I brought the McFadden family with me to six flags. We had a blast! It was supposed to rain, but it ended up being perfectly breezy. I got to ride a few rides that had been close the other days and the hazel had a great time seeing her friends. I was totally spent by the end of the day, but without fail I get some good exercise in pushing a fully loaded double stroller all over the park. We love the McFadden fam and it was so great to see them!

Day 102: pump it up!

We took advantage of a break in the rain this morning and headed to our favorite park. It had some fun climbing areas new to the cousins and then headed to Hazel's ballet class. Hazel's awesome teacher (ms. zora) even let Blythe join the class for the day. They had a blast! Around 5 we headed to Pump it up to wear everyone out on the bounce houses. When we got home we had breakfast for dinner in Pjs and a bunch of very tired kids went to bed. The grown ups watched Mrs. Doubtfire which was hilarious and had quite a few jokes I didn't understand as a kid! Loved it!

Day 101: Six Flags!

I mentioned a while back that we got Six Flags season passes and this was or second time. We brought my sister, Sarah and her 4 kids during their spring break. It was a little drizzly, but there were hardly any lines and the kids seemed to have a great time. I think Ezra was a little disappointed about the height restrictions and Harrison was concerned about the rides ability to stop when wet, but it was so much fun. Then we made it back to my place and we watched a movie and had cookies. We love visitors!

Day 100: feeding the masses

I feeling like I have been cooking and preparing to cook all day. We had the missionaries over twice today, once for haircuts and once for dinner. I made salmon tacos, avocado salsa, Spanish rice, and corn tomalito (you know that delish corn mush from Chevys?!). It was all rather tasty!

here is the recipe: http://allrecipes.com/recipe/sweet-corn-cake/

I also dropped dinner off for a lady from church that just got out of the hospital. She has some restrictions do I made a totally different dinner for her. It was a great, busy, productive day, but now I am so tired!

And a pic from hazel and Brandon's trip to the park Friday.

Day 99: Happy Easter!!

The kids woke up and played sweetly in their room for like 30 minutes and then they found their Easter treats. I made some hand made goodies this year. A purse for Hazel and some bunnies for both kids. They made a big fuss and loved shaking the eggs. We headed to church and had our friends Brent and Lacey and their little boy Jace over for dinner and a little egg hunt. Hazel and Jace went wild and got so excited every time they found an egg. It was really cute. What a wonderful easter!

Day 98: Easter carnival and hunt

We took hazel and desi out for an Easter egg hunt and carnival today. It turned out to be far too crowded to really enjoy the hunt with all the parents snatching up eggs, but we'll do another one at home soon. It was still a fun afternoon out as a family.

Day 97: Beach Friday!

Brandon has good Friday off so we headed to Bodega Bay and saw some historical ships used in the filming of pirates of the Caribbean. We walked all along the jetty to see the ships with crazy wind only to head right back. We went with Brandon's co-worker and her two little girls. Hazel's favorite part was playing in the sand and mud. I still can't figure out the best way to clean up a really sandy/muddy kid. If you rub it then it feels like sandpaper, baby wipes just smear it, baby powder trick only works with dry sand...etc. we did our best, put oner change of clothes and were on our way. It was so nice for brandon to have a surprise day off work and to get to spend the day with him!
